‘Unresponsive’ Private Plane Crashed in Portland, Jamaica
A small U.S. plane that took off from New York on Friday morning has crashed off the island of Jamaica, officials there say. A Jamaican military spokesman says the private plane went down about 14 miles northeast of Port Antonio.
The plane passed its intended destination in Naples, Florida and continued flying over the Caribbean Sea toward Jamaica. The pilots were reportedly unresponsive when aviation officials attempted to contact them.
The plane took off from Rochester at around 8:26 a.m. ET on Friday, according to the website FlightAware. WROC-TV reports that the plane belonged to Buckingham Properties, the company of Rochester developer Larry Glazer. No one from the company appears to be commenting.
