It’s Northern Europe’s largest music festival and by far its most unique, with tens of thousands of concertgoers streaming in—rain or shine—from around the planet to a makeshift “town” in the forest south of the Danish city from which it gets its name. No wonder that with such diehard fans, countless world-class and up-and-coming musicians of every stripe have clamored to perform at the renowned Roskilde Festival since its founding in 1971, and Red Bull TV will be right there to broadcast it live all around the globe, June 28 to July 1, 2017.
An expected 130,000 festivalgoers from 75 nations descend on the forested area south of Denmark’s capital Copenhagen and form a makeshift tent city. During its brief existence, it becomes Denmark’s fourth largest metropolis in terms of population.
The iconic eye catcher of the festival is the main stage Orange Stage, which has hosted musical luminaries such as U2, David Bowie, Ray Charles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Bjork and the Rolling Stones. The iconic canopy stage, which can host up to 60.000 people, derives from the Rolling Stones, who used it on their European Tour in 1976.
This year, Roskilde Festival will once again feature world-renown artists such as Solange, the Weeknd, Moderat/Modeselektor, Justice, Royal Blood to name a few, alongside the next generation of up-and-coming acts, for a total of some 175 acts performing on 8 stages.
The exclusive live broadcast program to the sold-out Festival, begins at 9:00pm CEST on Thursday, June 28 and continues throughout the weekend starting Friday and Saturday at 7pm CEST. Visit http://www.redbull.tv/roskilde for lineup announcements, festival highlights and exclusive content.
Viewers will be guided throughout the broadcast by presenters Will Best, MTV personality and presenter, Johann Wald DJ, actor, presenter and fanatical foodie and Hannah Rad travelling from the US, DJ, producer and radio host.
