My favorite Costumes for Jamaica Carnival 2016
By Mai, Kingston, Jamaica –
Leh we Go Sleek – frontline definitely hits number one for 2016’s favourite costume! It’s really an explosion of creativity with beautiful colours that compliment any skin tone and delivers all kinds of sexy. From the simple tiara, to the extravagant back piece that completes the look of this costume. The bikini designed costume also doesn’t come with a belt which is great as it makes it easier to just slip it on and go.
Pure Country – Las Vegas frontline makes it to second place on the list this year. They have dramatically changed and evolved in their market reach and more importantly, the designs. People who wear this costume will show courage by expressing their sensuality with the detailed wire bra and fitted Brazilian bikini. The yellow and black feathers definitely represent the colours shown on the Jamaican flag. The costume is very unique and brings a great vibe to the road.
Survivor frontline by Bacchanal Jamaica makes it to the list this year. This design is a two piece bikini design, the cut of the bikini is reminiscent of the Nahele which was a favorite of the costumes last year. High quality and flawless are just a few words that characterize Survivor. The colours are also fantastic as my favorite colour is pink, and this represents my bubbly, girly personality on the road very well.
Unleashed is definitely the standout costume of 2016. This costume was designed by a young entrepreneur making it very inspirational and takes on the embodiment of a true queen. It’s interpretation is definitely globally relatable and brings out the personality of a true jumper, male or female. It is definitely a beautiful depiction of a woman’s curves and would show its true beauty on the road worn by anyone. It enhances and exposes lines formed by woman’s body and has a true nature colour with diamonds that represent the name very well. The head piece of the frontline is just to die for, it is very bold and will contrast nicely with any lighting and will influence the crowd in a great way, grabbing the attention of those who walk by.
La Masquerade is the final costume to top the list this year. Wire bras in a one piece is a rare, but cool design. This costume comes with a headpiece option; my personal preference has to be the tiara because it is simple and will fit neatly with any hair do. The costume also gives a chance to show the vibrant colors with the detailed back piece, however, wearing both the headpiece and the back piece isn’t recommended, it’s too much really. The colors are magnificent and shows the true personality of a true Masquerade. Even though it’s designed as a monokini the cuts are designed to show less coverage depending on an individual’s body type, with the gems that goes nicely with the multiple colours.
Let’s thank Uncle Fuzzy who has made these designs possible every year, this celebration would not be possible without his creativity and his great legacy will be shown this year on the road.
