Machel Montano is finally a Soul Train Awards winner
Machel Montano has proven the saying “third time’s the charm” as he walked away with the 2014 Soul Train Award for ‘Best International Performance.’
Montano’s M.O.R (Ministry Of Road) stood out against Nico & Vinz’s ‘Am I wrong’, Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’, Shaggy and Neyo’s ‘You Girl’, Ziggy Marley’s ‘I don’t Want To Live On Mars’ and Davido’s ‘Aye’. In 2011 Machel was nominated for “Best Caribbean Performance” with ‘Bend Over’, and in 2012 he was nominated for “Best International Performance” along with Bunji Garlin.
Again, the Caribbean stood up and supported just as we did recently for Tessanne Chin and Bunji Garlin. The nomination and win is indeed a great accomplishment for Machel Montano, Soca Music, Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean. Soca music is definitely making its way around the world as doors of success continue to open for other artistes in the genre (we are confident).
