Trinidad & Tobago Visa-Free Travel to Europe
A release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday advised the Short Stay Visa Waiver Agreement between T&T and the European Union will be signed on Thursday and will immediately take effect.
The agreement allows visa-free travel for citizens of both T&T and the European Union, except in the case of travelling for the purpose of carrying out a paid activity, the release said.
“The category of persons carrying out a paid activity covers persons entering for the purpose of carrying out gainful occupation/remunerated activity in the territory of the other contracting party as an employee or as a service provider.”
Citizens are advised to familiarise themselves with the precise travel requirements prior to travelling abroad.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul Dumped for Two Test Series
West Indies veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s long Test career looks over, with the 40-year-old reportedly to be overlooked for next month’s two matches against Australia.
Chanderpaul is just 45 runs from Brian Lara’s record 11,912 Test runs by a West Indian but poor form appears set to deny him the chance to eclipse that tally.
In 164 Tests Chanderpaul has scored 11,867 Test runs at 51.37 including 30 centuries.
Chanderpaul has scored five hundreds in 20 Tests against Australia, including a 69-ball ton in 2003.
But the gutsy left-hander made just 96 runs in the recent three-Test series against England and failed to pass 50.
KLE Group Announces 8 New Tracks & Records Locations
THE KLE Group plans to pursue franchise opportunities for its Tracks & Records restaurant in eight territories including the Middle East.
Its the first time that the group, which runs a restaurant and nightclub, publicly announced target areas outside the US and UK markets.
“With the programme in place we have advanced the discussions with two initial candidates for the first locations. These transactions are progressing as planned and we are confident they will provide the start we need to kick-off the expansion of the concept. At the same time we continue to move other potential candidates through the evaluation process,” stated Gary Matalon, chief executive officer, about negotiations to expand the single restaurant operation in Kingston, which began years ago. KLE also operates a nightclub in Portmore.
“Once we have established our first franchisees, the intention is to cast a wider net through targeted international marketing initiatives. Some of the target areas for these efforts include the US, UK, Ireland, Spain, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Australia and Brazil,” he added in the preface to financials released this month to shareholders.
The group recorded a $21.7-million net loss for its March 2015 quarter which worsened the $12.6-million loss a year earlier. Revenues were also down by 25 per cent year-on-year to $46.6 million due to a closed lounge and nightclub.
“This was primarily due to the sale of Fiction Night Club and the closure of Odyssey Gaming Lounge. The unfavourable results must, however, be viewed in the context of operating four business units in 2014 versus two units in 2015,” stated Matalon.
