2015 Gold Cup Grades for each team in Group C after their opening match

Trinidad & Tobago – A: Relative to what was expected, the Soca Warriors gave a top class performance in their opener. The game was by and large over after 30 minutes when the Caribbean republic put 3 past a hapless Guatemalan defense. They had that lead cut to two in the 61st minute when the Guatemalans took one back but T & T had just enough to see the result through. T & T gave a precursor for what is to be expected from them for the rest of the Gold Cup. Standout player Joevin Jones

Guatemala – C: As much as the men from Trinidad & Tobago impressed, it could be said that Los Chapines disappointed in equal measure. Poor defending caused the Central Americans dear in the first half and while the second stanza saw some improvement, which led to the Guatemalans only goal, it was by no means enough as the full time whistle came. Guatemala needs to find some form soon as their next match is against tournament favourites Mexico.

Cuba – E: You could say the E could be for effort as the Cubans really gave the best they could considering they were missing one defector, an additional six players plus the head coach from their original squad by the time the referee blew the opening whistle. It was simply a rollicking, the six that Mexico put up could easily have been more if the Cuban’s standout player Diosvelis Guerra was not in net. Hopefully the rest of the squad can arrive safely in the US so that we all can see the Cubans as close to full strength as possibile in time for their next match against Trinidad & Tobago.

Mexico – A: A is for Annihilation Apocalypse or even Armageddon. Those are only a few of the words that could describe what he Mexicans did to the hapless Cubans. Not much could be analyzed as the Mexicans did really what they wanted when they wanted. EL Tri should see a stiffer task against their Central American neighbours Guatemala in their next match. Standout player Oribe Peralta.
